Def Leppard performed Hysteria and Love Bites on European TV in 1988/1989 and video footage is available.
The amusing 'Hysteria' performance dates from mid March 1988 when the band were in West Germany (as it was still known) for shows during the Hysteria European tour.
They appeared on lunch time show 'Spruch Reif' doing a shortened 3.5 minute playback version of the song to a crowd of mostly older people. Keep your eyes on the band for their reactions to the 'not-very-animated' audience members.
The 'Love Bites' performance - a full playback version of the song - dates from either late January/early February 1989 on the Dutch show 'Pop Formule' (Pop Formula). As mentioned on 1st January the song got to Number 23 on 21st January in the Dutch singles chart.
This appearance was likely the last ever by Steve Clark in mainland Europe. Notable also for the fact he uses a pink Hamer guitar.
Many promo shots from this appearance were used in magazines at the time.
