Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen was interviewed this morning by 103.5 The Fox and commented on the 2015 studio album.

Phil talked about the 2015 studio album, style of the songs, playing live, the VIVA! Hysteria residency, touring now compared to the 80s, the Delta Deep album and whether he's wearing a shirt during the interview.

Phil talks very enthusiastically again about the album and gives some very interesting insight into the "loud", "heavy" and "aggressive" rock songs on the record.

Listen to the full 7 minute interview below.

103.5 The Fox - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

2015 Studio Album

"Yes I was just there actually in Dublin. Just a week and a half ago actually. So we're just - finishing touches. It's great. It's the best thing we've done, I think, for probably about 20 years. I'm really digging on this. It won't be ready for the start of the tour but it'll probably come out at some point while we're on tour."

Harder Sound

"The guitars and the drums actually, on the songs that really rock, they're probably the heaviest, loudest songs we've ever done. It's actually got more grit and fire-power than anything you know. I know more than say Pyromania or High 'n' Dry and stuff like that. It's got a lot more edge to it yeah for sure."

You're bringing it all the way back?

"Well actually all the way forward. It's something we've never done before. It's probably the most aggressive - some of the songs anyway - they're the most agressive ones we've ever done."

"The problem is with early Def Leppard - really early Def Leppard is it kind of sounds like someone else. And I think where we kind of - you know when I joined, on funnily enough on Pyromania and Hysteria and that it kind of - that was our own sound. That was something unique to us and I think we're still you know evolving. And I think that the stuff that we're doing right now is just really crazy. It's a lot more - like I said - it's a lot more aggressive and there's more fire-power than anything we've ever done in the past."
