Def Leppard played a show in Atlantic City, NJ on this day in 2014 and Phil Collen guested on stage with co-headliners KISS.

The show took place at Boardwalk Hall during the Summer Tour 2014.

Phil guested on the song 'Deuce' and wore some KISS stage outfit complete with platform boots. Gene Simmons tried to lick his face and got some of his makeup on Phil's face at the start of the song.

The song was written by Gene Simmons and included on their self-titled debut album in 1974. the same year Phil attended his first concert in London. Phil talked about the guest spot during a radio interview a few days later - read his comments below.

The only other time KISS had a guest on stage was Joe Perry from Aerosmith on 18th December 2003 in Los Angeles when he got up to play 'Strutter' with them.

Phil Collen 12th August 2014 Interview Quotes

Playing On Stage With KISS

"Jon Beswick who does all their screens and stuff for KISS all the live footage and everything you see up on stage, he used to work for us. He mentioned it and the next thing I heard there was Doc McGhee and Tommy and Paul saying so what song are you gonna do?. So I'm like er OK so I went through a few of them and I thought Deuce would be a good one because it's kind of got a lot of guitars and solos and that. And literally you know I borrowed Paul's boots and some of the gear so I was the same size as the guys otherwise I'd have been tiny. It was such a blast. But you know I really had to walk around getting used to the boots cause they're like seven inch platforms and that was my big fear I thought I'm gonna fall over in front of all these people. But I got used to it you know it was actually pretty cool."

"I'm only the second person ever apparently in 40 years so Joe Perry from Aerosmith was the other guy so I'm in good company. Yeah it was really cool and I was honoured it was such a blast."
