Lex Q107 Radio - Vivian Campbell Interview Quotes

2015 Studio Album

"The album won't be out until later in the year but we finished up all our parts in February. Just this past February we were back in Dublin where we recorded it and I gotta say it's a great, great record. It's the best record that Def Leppard has made in the 23 years that I've been a member of the band."

"So it's really, really strong. It's diverse so it covers a lot of different styles. You know the first thing that we covered was the rock element because that's one thing we really, really wanted to portray on this album. And when we first started it last January or February we started recording in Dublin and we set up live in the studio to cut the first rock tracks. To make sure we captured some of that live energy that we and we haven't done that since the Slang record in 1996. So that was really - that's not normally the way the way we record. I know it's traditional for most rock bands to do that but you know Leppard's always been very piece meal in the recording process. But it was nice. It was refreshing to get back into playing live in the studio."

"And then after that we went on to explore different styles that required more of a thoughtful production approach. You know bit by bit but like I say it's a diverse record. There's some stuff on it that's pretty strange that we've never done before like we have a psychedelic track. It still sounds like Def Leppard. It's still unmistakeably Leppard."

New Song Details

"There's one song. A great song that Joe wrote but we're all singing lead vocal on it which is highly unique."
