Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen was interviewed by Jennifer Tyler of 106.9 The Eagle radio in February and talked about a new song.
Phil talked about the 2015 studio album, song writing, Phil/Joe writing a new song in 10 minutes, Nine Lives, how many guitars he owns, his musical influences, Delta Deep, Vivian's health, health/fitness and spending time in Houston.
Phil mentioned one of the band's new songs was written in only ten minutes by him and Joe at the end of the first session in February 2014.

2015 Studio Album
"We're just (putting the) finishing touches to it. I just got back from Ireland. We were recording at Joe Elliott's house. it'll be ready - we were trying to get it ready for the beginning of the tour but that's gonna happen so it'll come out while we're on tour. But it's great. It's the best thing we've done in ages. We've got - we went overboard on the vocals and guitars. Some of the songs are different and some of them are just like plain out smack you in the face rock but it's a really good combination of Def Leppard so it's a great direction. Loving it."
Song Writing Process/New Song Written In 10 Minutes
"Always different. I think that you know sometimes someone will bring a finished song in Or it'll be an idea - one song actually, this is really interesting. We have a song that me and Joe Elliott wrote in ten minutes. And we've never done that before. We actually - literally got the whole thing done in ten minutes. Joe said I've got this thing and it kind of sounds like a New York Dolls/Sex Pistols-y type thing and he played it. 'I've got this verse' and I said I've got a chorus and it fit seamlessly. So we knocked it together and yeah it was ten minutes at the end of the first session. So it was about a year ago we knocked it together and you know we just finished the song off just a couple of weeks ago."
Mutt Lange
"Well Mutt Lange definitely without a doubt. Our producer Mutt Lange you know I learnt so much from him and he just made everything make sense. And just learnt song writing and how to play guitar properly, how to sing. So without a doubt, you know, him."
Vivian's Health
"He's great. He was just over with me in Dublin. So singing - I mean you can tell he's doing good because the singing is very demanding. It's like high and it's very physical and all that. So he was singing great. So yeah he's all good he got the all clear from the doctor and he's just gotta take care of himself. So it's great. It's a wonderful thing."
