The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Hola senors est senoritas and welcome to Mexico...OK sorry. Evening all and welcome to the Joe Elliott show coming to you this week from Mexico - actually from Monterrey in Mexico where we are about to play the last show of our summer tour. We go on local time at midnight so you can only imagine how frenzied those fans are gonna be. We played Mexico City on Thursday night. We finished with KISS a few days before then. Mexico City 8 million people in the actual city. 21 million in the greater area of Mexico - that is a lot of people folks. And from Mexico let's go all the way back to Berlin and ring a few bells this is Lone Star."

Ice Bucket Challenge

"I'm sure by now you've heard, maybe even sick of hearing about the Ice Bucket Challenge but if you haven't seen the KISS/Def Leppard that we did in front of 20,000 fans in Minneapolis last week. It's worth checking out on YouTube. You'll also maybe be aware you have to nominate someone else when you do it - well I very cheekily nominated Prince and U2 and strangely enough they just haven't got back to me. But this guy did. Within 20 minutes I had a film on my iPhone of this gentleman pouring ice over himself and swearing profusely at me. As he tends to do quite often because he's a very good friend of mine. His name is David Coverdale and n honour of the fact that he did it so well and so quickly here's a bit of Whitesnake for ya."

Moody Blues

"It all seems to be about people this week. There I was in the hotel gym doing my obligatory 45 mins on a cross trainer when in walks John Lodge from the Moody Blues. He starts telling me about this Rock And Roll Ryder Cup that he wants to put together where he gets a bunch of English rockers off against a bunch of American rockers and no doubt in the evening a lot of imbibing of certain alcoholic beverages. Sounds like fun to me so I said you can sign me up and no doubt Rick Savage as well because the two of us on days off love to get out there and bash our balls around on the old green turf for want of a better phrase, as often as possible. So there you go no need for an excuse to play a Moody Blues song but if there ever was that's a great little story."

She's Too Tough

"As you know it's not really a request show but one gentleman did reach out to me over the last week or so and told me that he needed to hear that song for personal reasons. I shall keep them between me and him but that is Def Leppard there from the Retro-Active album and She's Too Tough which started out as a demo really and we just tarted it up because once you've sung a vocal line that high. You don't really wanna go and do it twice."

Show Outro

"And that my friends all the way from Monterrey in Mexico is it for this week. I shall be back with you next week from don't know where because I'm gonna be away on holiday somewhere. Def Leppard are off until we do the NFL at Wembley Stadium on the 28th of September - really looking forward to that. So until then I'm gonna leave you with this classic bit of 60s music brought into the 70s. I mentioned how KISS were huge fans of the UK music scene. So much so that on KISS Alive II side four was a bunch of new recordings and the only song that they covered was this classic Dave Clark Five song Any Way You Want It. Until next week see ya!."
