The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Evening. Yes I'm jet lagged what can I tell you it's been a long couple of days. Just got back from a week in LA actually. Where Def Leppard did a few little kind of under the radar shows if you like. And I was in town for an awards show which was absolutely spectacular. I'll tell you more about that later. But the Kings Of Chaos did play and my contribution to that particular performance was this beauty of a song."

Queen/Kings Of Chaos

"It's always fun joining the Kings of Chaos on stage cause they're a great bunch of people and fantastic musicians. And a couple of new recruits on this particular show because it's a bit of a warm up for a tour that they're gonna do towards the end of this month which I'm not gonna be involved in cause it overlaps with the Down 'n' Outz tour of the UK. Sammy Hagar was singing a couple of songs. They also had Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top on guitar and Joe Perry from Aerosmith. And on that particular song we just heard there from an album called A Day At The Races of course it was Queen with Tie Your Mother Down. I performed that with the Kings of Chaos and the great Brian May on guitar. Always fun working with Brian. What was a little weird though was being at an awards show in LA and no one from KISS being there and the reason why was because they've just finished the KISS cruise round the Caribbean and they're just revving up for a residency in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock VIVA! Hysteria style. However earlier this year they did ask me to write the liner notes for this particular beauty."

Kings Of Chaos/KISS

"I play that because at the awards show the Kings Of Chaos did a fantastic version of that featuring Billy Gibbons and Joe Perry doing some beautiful trade off guitar work and a great vocal actually by Billy Gibbons. That's the original version of the song. Jimi Hendrix there with Foxy Lady. And before that the title track from their 1977 album which has just been remastered and re-released. One of which I've just done the liner notes for, the song Love Gun."

Show Outro

"Ah we meet again Mr Bond. Yes, that is Chris Cornell there from the soundtrack of the Casino Royale Bond movie. Also features on his album Carry On. Song is You Know My Name and before that from the album Black Rose back in 1979 we heard we heard the fantastic Thin Lizzy with the Toughest Street In Town."

"Well that's about it for this week folks been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you next week with tales from London because I'm off to London and on Tuesday night I'm gonna be performing with The Who at Shepherd's Bush Empire. Which is just like a bucket list thing for me. I can't believe it. But it's all for a great cause the Teenage Cancer Trust gig. I'll tell you all about it next week. Until then I'm gonna go back to the start. We started talking about the Kings Of Chaos. The only thing that I've ever recorded with them we're gonna end the show with. From the album Re-Machined which is a tribute to Deep Purple's Machine Head album. This is our version of Never Before. Until next week see ya!."
