The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Evening all. Welcome. It is what else the Joe Elliott show right here on Planet Rock it is that time of night and we are coming to you this week from sunny Sheffield. The town in which I was born and the town in which Def Leppard was born and I'm back here this weekend shooting videos for the Down 'n' Outz album. More news to follow. Let's get the show started with a band known to us as Angel City. If you're from Australia, Angel. You may recognise this song if you're a Mick Ronson fan."

The Mick Ronson Memorial Show 1994

"And talking of Mick Ronson and I started the show with that song to highlight the fact that it's 20 years ago last Tuesday since the Mick Ronson Memorial gig at the Hammersmith Apollo or hopefully it was the Odeon still back then. 1994. So in honour of that memory here's couple of tracks. Mick Ronson in his pomp followed by something from the night itself."

"The stuff of dreams for myself and Phil Collen to step on that stage at Hammersmith. With Woody Woodmansey and Trevor Bolder the rhythm section from The Spiders From Mars and play a little set of Bowie songs that Mick had featured in heavily. All stuff from things like Ziggy Stardust and Man Who Sold The World etc. Fantastic time that was. From The Mick Ronson Memorial gig that is Suffragette City originally of course on David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust album. And before that Mick Ronson himself from his first ever solo album back in 1974 from Slaughter On Tenth Avenue we heard the track Only After Dark. Actually once covered by Def Leppard."

Show Outro

"From the bizarrely titled Alpacas Orgling album that is L.E.O. Yes as in E.L.O. rearranged for they are unashamedly E.L.O. fans and have made an album that they believe sounds like E.L.O. or how E.L.O. may sound if they were still around in their original form today. The song we just heard was called Make Me. And before that from The Next Day extra version we heard David Bowie continuing his space infatuation with a song called Born In A UFO. And that brings this weeks show to an end folks all the way from Sheffield. Been a pleasure as always. I shall be back with you at the same time next week. Until then having just heard L.E.O. let's have a listen to E.L.O. shall we from their debut album and a song once covered by Leppard on the YEAH! album this is the fantastic 10538 Overture. Until next week see ya!."
