Mark Mayfield - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

2015 Studio Album

"Well that's really interesting how that came about. In February I went over to Joe's and we just wanted to writ some new music. We thought maybe we'd get. I actually - all of of us thought if we get four songs that's great and maybe we'd release an EP. Cause let's face it the industry as we knew it has very much changed and the album doesn't mean as much as it did. But we got 12 songs straight off the bat and it was like whoah we've got an album right here so we got that within a month. We went back and we have 15 songs now and we've obviously gotta finish them off."

"Some of them are pretty much near complete and the others like need. You know some lyrics writing for them and others need singing and stuff but for the most part they're all done. Even like solos and all sorts of things it's the quickest - kind of most flowing we've ever been I think. And I think that's cause we had different expectations. You know everyone was open minded and I don't know something happened and some really cool stuff. It's very varied and it's gonna be a new album for next year. We just said why stop at four or whatever let's just complete it."

Second Las Vegas Residency

"Absolutely they've asked us back a couple of times and it's just down to scheduling we're just a little unsure of when we're gonna be - we're definitely touring all of next year. But now all of a sudden the priority is to actually finish an album. It's kind of a weird thing to say in this day and age. But we got so much of it done so quickly. And this album's so good that we're kind of doing everything around the schedule of that."
