The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Evening all. Welcome it is the Joe Elliott show coming to you this week from Paul Guerin territory. Yes, Paul Guerin lead guitarist for the Down 'n' Outz is from Blythe which is just around the corner from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne which is where we are today. And he's a very happy boy because of last Friday night's FA Cup result away at Hartlepool. Can you imagine what it must have been like to be a Blythe Spartans fan that night. Anyway 60 minutes of fantastic music coming up including this Midnight Rendezvous."

Down 'n' Outz

"From an album called Union Jacks that is The Babys there with Midnight Rendezvous. As you can probably tell from my very croaky voice the Down 'n' Outz are certainly not down and they're certainly not out but we do have a bit of an issue. Four of the six of us are going down with some kind of bronchial infection, flu or whatever it is. Which is making it well slightly tricky by about 9pm to get on stage but we persevere. Maybe I need to do a deal with a preacher."

"There's a bit of a rarity for you because it doesn't technically exist as a record as such. I took that from the DVD. Live at the Hammy Odeon 2009. That is the Down 'n' Outz. That's the first time we ever played together when we opened for Mott The Hoople on the last of their five shows. At the Labatt's Apollo as it is now I believe. That's the live version of Overnight Angels which is going down fantastic on this tour, I have to say." - Note - It was the Labatt's Apollo from 1992-1996 but is now the Eventim Apollo.

Show Outro

"From the very imaginatively titled Shangri-La Dee Da that is Stone Temple Pilots with Days Of The Week. And before that from his album from 1977. The album Makin' Magic we heard Pat Travers with Need Love. And that brings us to the end of the show this week folks been a pleasure as always. The Down 'n' Outz have got four shows left. Newcastle, Glasgow, Belfast and Dublin and then I shall be back with you next week from home. Hopefully recuperating from this pesky bronchial infection. So until then I'm going to leave you with this classic from the New York Dolls and when I say classic. I mean classic even though it's not from the 70s. This is from the reformed New York Dolls an album called One Day It Will Please Us To Remember Even This. This is a track called Dance Like A Monkey. Until next week see ya!."
