Gater 98.7 - Phil Collen Interview Quotes

Aborted Concert Film/VIVA! Hysteria

Phil - "We were supposed to record a concert last year or the year before and it never really happened. You know we didn't have the right venue, the people weren't ready in time we were gonna use. So it's amazing how these things work out. As soon as we said we were doing the residency and we were gonna do Hysteria. You know someone jumped on and said we would love to film it and record the whole thing. So we did we recorded every night and we filmed two of the nights so we made kind of a collage of that. So it was pretty amazing. Honestly, honestly believe it was the best the band has ever been."

Love And Affection

Phil - "It's great. What's interesting about that song. That was gonna be the next single but we went - and they stopped. They didn't release any more singles. We stopped at seven and that was gonna be the next one. I originally wrote most of that while I was in Paris. I was just there like last week in Paris so it's kind of weird that it's actually getting - finally getting played after all these years as a single. It's great."

Future Plans For Def Leppard

Phil - "We actually next year - I've just got a finger operation. My tendon slipped off the bone in my left hand. I'm sitting here with a cast on so I can't even play guitar till probably like late November/December. We actually got offered some shows in January or February and I wouldn't be able to do it so we're actually gonna start writing and recording some new stuff early on next year at some point. So that should be really interesting."
