The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"And it's a very solemn week I'm afraid it's almost like a requiem. There's been so many people pass away over the last few days it's really hard to get your head around. Just not so long ago Jeff Hanneman from Slayer passed away followed by Steve Hyams who was very briefly in Mott and this week we've lost Ray Manzarek from the Doors and very tragically for me and for a lot of people out there specifically his wife Shelly and his kids Trevor Bolder from The Spiders From Mars, the Cybernauts, Wishbone Ash and of course for many, many, many years Uriah Heep. Sadly lost his battle against cancer just a few days ago. So we're gonna be celebrating their lives with the music that they've been involved in. But as the late great Freddie Mercury once sang life still goes on and so it's not gonna be all doom and gloom tonight we are gonna get some rock in there and no better way of getting started than this great British institution that is currently touring the UK with Journey. This is David Coverdale and Whitesnake."

Whitesnake

"I'm really looking forward to hooking up with David and the boys in a few weeks time when Def Leppard, Whitesnake and Europe hit the road for some shows in France, Spain and Scandinavia."

Cybernauts/Trevor Bolder

"As for this next song the way I introduced it on stage at the Olympia Theatre in 1997 says it all - "I need to name check a very important person who hasn't been mentioned tonight so far Mr. Trevor Bolder on the bass guitar"."

"Couple of bands that Trevor was also in, one for only a couple of years but one for over 30 plus years Wishbone Ash and Uriah Heep coming up next. The second track from the Argus album will be Wishbone Ash of course. The first one something that I'm sure Trevor played many, many, many times live although he didn't play on the version we're about to hear. This from the Demons And Wizards album is The Wizard."

Ian Hunter

"Along with all these rock stars that have been passing away far too frequently one of my very good friends in Sheffield lost his father this week so Ian that one's for you. That is Ian Hunter from the album You're Never Alone With A Schizophrenic and a song called Ships."

Show Outro

"And that my friends is it for this week I hope the show's not been too sombre after all it's been a very difficult week but we do try and keep things upbeat round here. We're gonna finish the night off once again we go back to the wonderful talents of Mr Trevor Bolder when he was contributing to David Bowie's arguably best period of his career The Spiders From Mars from '71 to 1973. back to the Alladdin Sane album from 1973 and one of the biggest hits that Bowie ever had featuring some wonderful bass playing from Trev. This is Jean Genie."
