Vivian Gives Another Slang Reissue Update

Wednesday, 20th March 2013

Slang 1996.

Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell has said the Slang album reissue release date is still unknown.

The reissue will, according to Joe Elliott, be a double CD, double vinyl release with bonus tracks, different mixes and more.

Vivian gave another update to fans on 19th March saying he now has no idea when it will be released. He had told people earlier this month it might be released to coincide with the VIVA Hysteria! residency. This always seemed dubious given the short amount of time left before the shows start on Friday.

All previous updates on this release and new music can be found in the Album News section.

Any new word on the Slang re-issue and can we expect goodies on it like previous re-issues?

"I'm not really sure what's going on with it, Donovan; I know it's all ready to go - just a matter of when. We missed our original target of Christmas 2012 because we didn't have all the art work and re-mastering done in time. I'm guessing that the grown ups are waiting till after the run of Vegas, Hysteria shows."

"You're correct to think that there are mixed feelings about the record within the band; it depends who you ask. Personally, I love, love, love the way it sounds, but I always felt that we could have taken a bit more time with the structure of the songs. It was recorded at a difficult time for the band and I feel like we were without much focus or direction. Regardless, it stands as a reflection of what Def Lep was at that moment in time."
