Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott hosted another edition of his weekly radio show last night on Planet Rock.

This weeks show included songs by Mott The Hoople and British Lions. Joe also played a song by his own band Down 'N' Outz and the demo version of 'When Love & Hate Collide'. Joe contradicted the liner notes of the 1995 single by saying the demo was recorded in 1989 (it says 1990 on the single).

The full playlist is shown below along with a few of Joe's on air quotes.

The show is available until next Saturday using the On Demand feature.

The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Def Leppard

"Now I'm sure you're all aware that just a few days ago it was Valentine's Day and Def Leppard had a very cunning plan on Valentine's Day to re-release the ballad When Love & Hate Collide. After all not everything that happens on Valentine's Day is sweetness and light especially if you guys out there forget to send your girlfriend some flowers. So I've dug out the original demo, I'm not gonna play you the version on Vault, I've got the original demo recorded six years earlier in 1989 and I'm playing this because it's the last thing that Steve Clark ever played on. He plays the solo on this version. Check it out featuring the late great Steve Clark here's the original demo of When Love & Hate Collide."

"And before that the original demo from 1989, six years before it was a hit, When Love & Hate Collide featuring on lead guitar the incredible talents of one Steve Clark."

T Rex

"There's a song from an album that means so much to me. That's from the first T Rex album. When they dropped the Tyrannosaurus and just became T Rex. The album was a Christmas gift from my father. I've still got the original vinyl and I loved it so much that I actually bought the lyrics to that song at an auction about 20 years ago and they're in pride of place over my jukebox. That is T Rex from the album T Rex with Once Inch Rock."
