Huwey Lucas 2013.

Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott played a new Christmas song by English singer/songwriter Huwey Lucas on his Planet Rock show last night.

Huwey auditioned for Def Leppard in early 1992 and was one of the final two candidates up for the job of replacement for Steve Clark. Vivian Campbell of course was the other one who eventually got the gig.

Joe played his new Christmas single titled "Say You'll Come Home For Christmas" which can be heard via the video below and purchased from Amazon or iTunes. The song was released on 25th November.

"And before that a song called Say You'll Come Home For Christmas by a young guy called Huwey Lucas who many moons ago auditioned for Def Leppard. We stayed in touch. He sent me that a few months ago and said I've got this Christmas song so I saved it and there you have it. Possibly its first ever play on the radio. Huwey Lucas Say You'll Come Home For Christmas."

Rolling Stone 1992 - To Hell And Back Article Quote

"The band decides to have a crack at Led Zeppelin's 'Rock and Roll' to give guitar candidate Huwey Lucas, a talented young unknown from Birmingham, England, a chance to flash his solo chops."
