Hysteria 1987.

Def Leppard released their fourth studio album 'Hysteria' 26 years ago on this day in 1987.

The album was released on the same day world-wide - 3rd August 1987. It was the first to be released after Rick Allen's car accident in 1984 when he lost his left arm.

'Hysteria' went straight in at Number One in the UK album charts. Their first ever number one. It would reach the top spot in the US Billboard Top 200 chart almost a year later in July 1988 and eventually reach 10 million sales there.

The band released six UK singles from the album and seven in all around the world. The various promo videos would later be released on the 'Historia' VHS/DVD in 1988.

'Animal' was the first in July 1987 and the success of the album meant the last single would be released almost two years later in January 1989 with 'Rocket' which was the fifth Top 20 single in the UK. The title track also making the top 30 at number 26.

In the USA the band got their first number one single a few weeks after the album reached the top with 'Love Bites'. As of 2012 the album has sold over 20 million copies.
