A memorial website has been set up in honour of former Def Leppard engineer/producer Mike Shipley who died on 25th July aged 56.

Mike's ex-wife Lynn has started the tribute site which features many photos, stories and tributes from those who knew and worked with him. One of the stories tells how Mike was part of the hand claps and foot stomps used on Queen's legendary 'We Will Rock You'.

Mike was born on 7th October 1956 in Sydney, Australia. and would go on to work as the main engineer on the albums 'High 'n' Dry', 'Pyromania' and 'Hysteria', before co-producing 'Adrenalize' with the band.

Fellow engineer from the 'High 'n' Dry', 'Pyromania' and 'Hysteria' albums Nigel Green has paid tribute on the site. Quite timely as today marks 26 years since 'Hysteria' was released - the last album they worked on together for Lep.

Nigel Green - 30th July Memorial Quote

"Mike, you left us too soon. We first started working together when I was 21 and you were 22. I knew straight away I was working with someone very special! Working with you was demanding, you expected the best, and always delivered the best. We spent long hours in the studio but always had time for a laugh. It was an honor to work with you Mike. I learnt so much from you mate. Rest in peace"

Phil Collen - 27th July facebook Quote

"Mike Shipley-the man behind the music. Our hearts are heavy and he will be missed. Thanks Mike for the magic."
