News - Def Leppard Joe Elliott 100.7 WZXL Radio Interview

Saturday, 19th May 2012

Joe Elliott Sheffield 2008.

Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott was interviewed by Steve Raymond on 100.7 WZXL radio in Atlantic City, NJ on 17th May and the audio is available to listen to.

Joe was promoting the 14th July show in Atlantic City, NJ. Joe made a brief comment on the new versions of the songs. As did Vivian Campbell on facebook, pretty much confirming that these are not "new versions" but are intended to be exact sound-a-like replacement versions for the originals so they can get them on iTunes. Not the "new contemporary take on the old tunes" as some seem to think. (But you won't be hearing any more opinion here about it.)

In a 6 minute interview Joe talked about the new Ovation Hall in Atlantic City, the Rock Of Ages movie/how the band became involved, the new versions of PSSOM/ROA, the craziest opening act they've worked with (Ted Nugent-when they opened for him in 1980), the influence of David Bowie/Mott The Hoople, working with Taylor Swift in 2008, the new single 'It's All About Believin''/the Mirrorball (Live & More) album and the possibility of playing 'Let It Go' live. Listen to the full interview below.

Steve Raymond Show - Joe Elliott Interview Quote

New Recordings Of PSSOM/ROA?

"Yeah cause we thought we'd celebrate the fact that those two songs are in the film. That we would do brand new recordings of them it just seemed like a good idea."

"Well they've lasted this far, god willing they'll last a little longer."

Vivian Campbell - facebook Quote

"They are as close as we could make them. Personally, I can't tell the difference. You may ask why we bothered. Well, long story, but it's to do with the record label and the band not getting paid etc."
