Def Leppard bassist Rick Savage was interviewed in May 2011 by Rocksucker whilst promoting the Mirrorball live album.

In a very in depth interview Sav talked about the songs included on 'Mirrorball (Live & More)', the possibility of a box set, why he's in charge of the setlists, playing live, the iTunes/Online Streaming issues, why there was no promo video for 'Undefeated', the bonus DVD, the Definitive Visual History book, how the band work on songs, the direction of the next album and much more.

Rocksucker - Rick Savage Interview Quotes

Setlist

"Yeah, it kind of got thrown at me - like, "we want to change it around tonight...have you got any ideas, Sav? - so it was left to me to put an order and a logic to things, because some of the guys will have what they think is this brainstorming, fantastic idea, and I go, "No, you can't do that." "Why not?" "Well...you've got to do this.” Then we'll listen to a mock running order made up of the studio versions and they'll go, "Oh yeah, you're right. Let's do it that way." (Laughs) So I got lumbered with it, I'm afraid!."

iTunes Issues

"We do have an issue with Universal Music about that. I'm in no doubt that an agreement will be reached but that is the only reason that those types of songs have not been put on iTunes."

Next Album Sound

"I've always said, certainly in interviews, that if you could describe Def Leppard then it would be somewhere between Queen and AC/DC: it's got the raw power and head-banging ability that AC/DC always create, but also the melodic and harmonic aspect of a lot of Queen songs as well. So we're sort of in the middle, always drifting more towards one or the other and I don't see the next album being too different from that."
