Des Moines, IA - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Blaine Calhoun

The show started out with Lita Ford giving an enthusiastic and fun set. Lita, wearing an all black leather outfit, kicked off the night, and sounded fantastic. In my opinion she is an underrated guitarist. Only one new song was played off her new album, but Living Like A Runaway went down well. As did the closer Kiss me Deadly.

Up next was Poison. They came out with incredible energy, and blazed thru their set and had the crowd on their feet the entire time. With solos from CC Deville and Rikki Rockett, it gave both a chance to show off their individual talents that have made Poison one of the greatest bands ever. The hits, such as Unskinny Bop, Talk Dirty To Me, Every Rose has It's Thorn, made for an incredible night. They were very appreciative to the audience, and thanked Def Leppard for being the nicest, best people ever to tour with.

Now for the best of the best. It was finally Def Leppard's turn, and you could tell everyone was very anxious for the curtain to drop. When it finally did, they appeared, with Joe Elliott and Rick Savage standing together rising up from the back and broke out into Undefeated, which to me is the perfect song to start things off. Next was Rocket, the special effects, along with Phil and Vivian trading licks back and forth was awesome to say the least.

Joe's voice sounded great, and it wasn't apparent to me that he had been suffering any ill affects. He looked and sounded just as incredible as he always has. The entire show was flawless. I wish it could have went on all night. The only thing I can say that I wish would have been played was It's All About Believin, but with that being said, it was without a doubt the best concert I have seen them play. They all interact with the audience, slapping hands, smiling, having just as much fun as their fans. Trying to pinpoint some highlights is tough, but I would say Undefeated, Rocket, Love Bites, which Phil broke out the Fender Strat, which was pretty sweet! To, Gods Of War, Rock Of Ages, and Pour Some Sugar the night was one I will never forget.
