Indianapolis/Noblesville, IN, USA - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Debbi

Just returned from our Indiana road trip. The Noblesville show was awesome! The place was packed! My pictures didn't turn out that great as my camera started to act up, but I sent you a few pics to post. I guess it's time for a new camera - anyway.

Styx and REO Speedwagon were great! The original bass player for Styx came out and joined in for the last few songs. They were energetic and you can tell they love performing live. The keyboardist was dancing around stage and reminded me of Mick Jagger. LOL.

REO, too, were energetic. They must have played a song or two coming out on their new album because I didn't know of those songs. They did mention that they have a new CD coming out with the album cover being the compass artwork they had on stage by the drum set. I really enjoyed both bands much better than the Chicago show seeing Styx and Foreigner. Maybe it was just the sounds from the amphitheater. Indiana sounded much better than Chicago.

The Leps took stage right after hearing AC/DC's "For Those About To Rock" (which played right after "Boys Are Back To Town" at both shows I went to). I'm still upset about not hearing "We Will Rock You" anymore, but I didn't let that ruin my mood. The Leps started out the show saying "Do You Wanna Get Rocked" but played "Rocket". We had much better seats than I thought, as the seats were angled so we were quite close to the stage on Phil's side - I definitely enjoy the shows more when I'm close to the stage (call me spoiled!). I brought my mom with me to this show - it was her first Lep show (she's 63!) and she loved it. She has always liked Def Leppard and even more so now!

We think we saw Jared (famous for the U.S. Subway commercials) at the show, a few rows in front of us - he is from Indianapolis - it must have been him. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jared_Fogle)

The set list was exactly the same as previous shows. Phil did not play the double guitar again (as he didn't play it in Chicago either). Someone threw a rose at Rick Savage (it looked like it hit him in his face) and he almost instantly threw it right back into the crowd. The guys were slapping hands with the crowds from the catwalk and from the stage and the guys kept throwing a lot of guitar picks into the crowd too.

Near the end of the show, Joe came out wearing an Indianapolis Colts cap which he then threw it into the crowd (by the catwalk) at the end of the song. Someone very lucky caught that hat. Wish it was me!

During Sav's bass solo before "Rock On", I personally think they used too much fog. Although it is a great effect, we want to see more of Sav during that time, not too much fog.

Rick had 2 large sunflowers set up on his drums which was new. At first I thought they were fans, but now I don't think they were. Not sure what the purpose of those sunflowers were for.

It was well worth the 3.5 hour trip from Chicago to Indianapolis - well, with the awful traffic going there, it was more like a 5 hour trip but luckily we left early in the morning. I must say that the parking at this amphitheater is the pits! One lane roads made traffic jams in the parking lot after the show - it took over an hour to get out of the parking lot, then we still got stuck in traffic jams on the road too. It took 2 hours to get back to our hotel, which was 9 minutes away! The roads were backed up for miles. They made us go out of our way and being out of town, it is not fun not knowing where we were going. The same thing happened last year too, which I forgot about. It's really a bad location for have an amphitheater, in the middle of a residential area with dark one-lane roads, no signs, in the country, surrounded by corn fields. How could the people who live around there stand all that traffic. Well, just about everyone had Def Leppard blasting from their car, so that made it easier to sit around in your car while listening to the Leps and remembering the awesome show we just saw and wanting more. I'd make the trip again in a heartbeat.
