Oberhausen, Germany - Media Reviews

By Edwin Van Hoof

Working class heroes followed when England's finest entered the stage; DEF LEPPARD! A tough spot after Journey having set the arena ablaze only 20 minutes ago. Leppard instantly showed they meant business with "Hellraiser" and the oldies "Rock! Rock!," "Let it Go" and "Let's Get Rocked." As usual, all fell into place with their muscular energetic hard rock boosted by the choirs that made them so famous. Though triggered, it is a feature they can't do without and it is one embraced by the large crowd devouring the rock-cocktail as served. "Rocket," "Animal", "Armageddon It," you name it; they were all there cheered and sung along to word for word. And it was great to see the band enjoying themselves over all of this with Elliot and Collen accelerating. Savage and Allen laying down a rock solid groove and it is still amazing to see how great Rick handles his sticks and kit. The man's power and passion for music are showcased nightly when he enters the stage. "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and the mighty rock hymn "Rock of Ages" wrap up their classics collection able to compete with any act out there.
