Syracuse, NY - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Shane

First of all this show was absolutely amazing. It started off with a few songs from Ricky Warwick which were a nice introduction to the band.

After he left the stage Def Leppard came on with a great start. They played the first five songs from High 'N Dry (Let It Go, Another Hit And Run, High 'N Dry (Saturday Night), Bringin' On The Heartbreak and Switch 625). After that they played many of their most popular hits including Hysteria, Rocket, Pour Some Sugar On Me and Photograph.

The energy of the guys on stage and the energy of the crowd were incredible. The intensity of which they played the songs was something I've never seen before and may never see again. All in all I'd have to say this concert was just amazing and I can't wait to see them again, soon.

This was the third show I have seen here. Without a doubt it was the best of the three. The band never fails to impress me with their ability to sound so amazing live. The crowd stood up at the very first note and did not sit down again. Most sang every word of every song, all were dancing. The band did an excellent job of mixing old and new music, with the majority of the older songs at the end of the concert. The light show was impressive even on an outside stage. Just as the show ended, the fireworks for the state fair began. All in all it was true sensory overload. If you haven't seen them live you are missing the best.

The New York State Fair is famous for getting world famous acts to play at the grandstand. The Fair is also known for heavy traffic, delays and a sea of humanity not always easy to deal with. I chose to see Def Leppard instead of Bob Dylan. I've never seen a Def Leppard concert live before this, and only accept the best for my concert picks. What turned out to be was the real thing!

After getting lost in the endless midway carnival I discovered that the Fair concert stage was contained in a small area, making the act close to all parts of the seating. Def Leppard I expected to be dressed kind of post modern, but were dressed in black leather and logo tank tops. It might as well have been 1987 as far as their dress was concerned.

The crowd went appreciative and wild at the opening flashing wild colored lights and the taking of the stage by legends. "Let it Go" was the opening song, that sounded as electrified as it ever could. What would ensue was pretty stunning. With twelve! stacks of Marshall amplifiers the crowd knew something big was going to happen just by the sight of them. We got the real deal all the way to the end. Seasoned, but not stale renditions of an effective set list ripped many highlights. "Rocket" contained a science fiction guitar dual. "My Generation" by The Who was blended in nicely.

Chills ran down the spine when the lead singer would really belt out a rocket of notes in most of the songs. Selections from "Hysteria" made the crowd hysterical. "Women" "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and the rest of the hits from that album were worth admission price alone. I was proud to be seeing the legendary Def Leppard by this time. The new songs they played were just the right amount and at just the right time to be perfect. "Now" and "Promises" (when a nasty brawl occurred right next to me) sounded top notch, to the point of genius. Most all the songs a fan would ever want to hear were played very well and authentic. I do hope to see them! again and highly recommend you to see them on this tour.

They were wonderful I had the best time. From the moment they hit the stage to the last song I was on my feet. They still can rock. The seats were a little close together but you really didn't notice once Def Leppard hit the stage. I can't wait to see them again.

Ricky Warwick was good, it takes alot of courage to go out on stage by yourself with no band.
