Sudbury, ON - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Vaula

This time Def leppard had arrived in Sudbury early in the day. Me and my friend got the chance to take pictures of the tour buses, have dinner at a restaurant next door to the arena, and purchase Def Leppard Tour shirts well in advance of the show. My boyfriend tagged along and it was a fun afternoon in the hot sun.

Later, we took our seats, on the floor, inside the arena. I liked the idea of a seating arrangement at this concert because you were free to come and go as you pleased. My friend's seat was in front row, facing Viv and I got 5th row in front of Joe. My boyfriend didn't have a ticket so he waited outside for us. (He was our ride home). Ricky Warwick came on to perform and I didn't mind his presence he was alright and only 30 mins. My boyfriend told me while I was inside watching Ricky Warwick, he spotted Joe outside walking behind the arena. He was going to take a picture but the security guards shooshed him away. He jogged across the street, aimed for a picture, but Joe was nearing the back entrance and my boyfriend was tooo far away. Oh, well!! At, 8: 00 p.m. Def Leppard hit the stage in full force. I loved the lighting, the sound, singing along with the band and jumping around.

Some highlights of the show: This drunk guy interrupted my fun during the first few DL songs. He complained I was in his seat, luckily I got a few people around me involved and the disturber finally left me alone. Resulting in my confusing set list at the very beginning of the show. From Heartbreak on...is 100% accurate. During, Make Love Like A Man, Sav pointed me out in the crowd. I was surprised that he did that yet I was very happy!! He made my evening! Later on, I felt the show was very reminiscent to the Sheffield concert on my Vault/Video archive DVD, it was soo cool. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute!

This time they had hours to spend with us! They played each song at a normal pace and seemed much more relaxed. Def Leppard were happy and so were we. They gave us 2hrs. of musical pleasure.

Approx. 5,000 people showed up to see the Leps! That's 500 more than the Slang concert.

After the show, the three of us went for a soda and chatted for a bit. Then we took my friend home. On the way through town we drove by the arena and stopped for a red light. To my surprise I looked beside me and saw the front of Def Leppard's tour bus waiting to turn out from the arena parking lot. The bus's interior lights were on and I saw Joe sitting in the front beside the driver, and Sav's head of hair. I couldn't believe it! I smiled. The light turned green and we set off in our direction to find the bus going the opposite direction. My boyfriend and I were puzzled as to why Def Leppard was going the wrong direction to Toronto. We were curious and took a turn to go their way. We followed their buses for a distance, then parked our car to the side of the road. We sat their in the dark and watched Def Leppard's buses drive off into the darkness of the night. I remember saying, "See you later!"

Thank you for reading.

P.S. Def Leppard was front page news, in our newspaper, for the second time. A great big colored pic. of Joe graced the page of the Sudbury Star. And I wore my black Def Leppard X-Tour shirt pretty much everyday after the concert.
