Pittsburgh, PA - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Barbara

Well, what can I say, they were awesome!!! I was right against the barrier on Phil's side of the stage. Joe, Sav and Phil actually walked up to the edge of the stage as I tried to get pictures of them. Unfortunately, security and prof photogs kept getting in the way. I was able to get some good pictures though. I can't remember all the songs or even in what order they played. I do remember 'Slang' (Joe was looking in my direction while I sang it back to him), 'Rock of Ages', '4 Letter word', 'Foolin'.

Joe did one of his gestures, he also did his microphone tricks, made a comment to the people on Viv's side of the stage about an illegal odor:) I was really pleased at all the young kids around me who were just as excited to see the guys as they were for the other bands, a few who heard my friend and I talking about how we were here to see the Lepps started asking us questions about them. We of course obliged them with the answers. One young guy was excited to see one of the crew light Rick's incense, he thought that was "cool". I may have come away bruised in many places (from being slammed against the barrier so much) and sunburned, but it was well worth it to see them that closely! They put on a really good show and I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of those kids didn't go out and by a Lepp cd or 2.

Def Leppard graced the stage at exactly 7:10 p.m. following the sounds of 'We Will Rock You', 'Hey' and 'Disintegrate'. They were in fine form, Phil and Vivian sharing solos , Sav running to either side of the stage and Rick Allen keeping the beat strong and steady. Joe was in great spirits and even though this was a festival type event and them not headlining, they still stole the show with their set of hits. They did 'Slang' too which went over well, but you the best was both 'Pour Some Sugar on Me' and 'Rock of Ages', which got the greatest crowd response!.

Well all Def Leppard again proves they've got what it takes to rock our world here in Pittsburgh at the Rolling Rock Town Fair. Songs old and new we're featured.

DL started out with 'Let It Go' to everyone's delight. I'm sorry I don't remember the set list in order but I do know we got to hear Rock Rock (till you drop), Animal, Armageddon It, Slang, Four Letter Word, Pour Some Sugar On Me, Promises and Rock of Ages. (I think that's it).

DL's enthusiasm and love of music shines through better than ever and the energy never stops. Cameras were permitted and I certainly put my digital camera to great use considering I had the best view standing directly in front at the rail about 3 feet from the stage. It just doesn't get any better than that. The only problem I encountered was having to crawl over the rail with the assistance of security, seeing as that was the only way out. There were so many people you couldn't back track. I know I'll even have the black and blue marks on my arm and leg tomorrow to prove it. Thanks to the security guys for helping me escape the chaos. Well worth it though.

Also in case I had forgotten to say it to him personally, a big THANK YOU to Sav for the pic. He came to the edge of the stage especially for me to take his picture and even asked "Did you get it" and smiled at me when I replied "Yes" and gave him the thumbs up. No I didn't faint like I thought I would being quite the shy person I am but I definitely felt myself blushing when he spoke to me. Too cool Sav. You're the best. A big thank you to all the guys from DL who allowed pics of them to be taken also. I'll treasure them and the memories always. You're all one in a million. And Joe, we'll keep "MUM" about the illegal odor. LOL

I was also very surprised to see how many of the younger crowd pushed ahead to see DL and sang right along with them. Even 'Four Letter Word' went down well with them. The word must be getting around. Until next time we see you guys (and I hope it's soon), take care, God bless, and best wishes for the rest of the tour. We Love You.

Fan Review - Leppard Stole The Show By dflprd1

Just wanted to take a few moments to write a little blurb about Rolling Rock. I was in the 233 section in the shade, thank you very much! I had a great view of the stage. The sound was excellent. The first half of the show with a mixture of bands the crowed was very tame to say the least. Yes, some had hands up and mosh pits were going but for the most part they stood there just watching.

Then the radio DJ came out to introduce the Def Leppard and the crowed went crazy, everyone stood up in the bleechers and the floor was just crazy with hands in the air waving like they had no cares. People were singing every lyric. It was a fast hitem' hard set but very well received by 97% of the people there. After they left the stage three more bands came on and they just did not have the intensity to keep the rush going the crowd slowed down it got quiet again with the occasional roar. I do say that DL should have been the headliners of this rockfest it would have ended much much better!.
