Fan Review - By Rick

The setlist was close to the others I've seen on here, opening with a few High 'n' Dry tunes. From my seats way up high and near the back, it didn't seem that the audience wasn't fully into it until 'Bringin' on the Heartbreak.' That plus 'Foolin' and 'Make Love Like a Man' seemed to bring the crowd around just in time for the X block of songs which seemed to let the air back out of the whole thing. In general, I thought pacing was a problem early in the going, maybe for the first 30-40 minutes. The crowd could seem to sustain much passion and I have a feeling the early selections had a lot to do with it.

That said, the second half of the show just plain rocked! From roughly the time they played 'Women' until the end of the encore, the crowd was on their feet and loving it! Rock and roll at its finest.

The band seemed as good as ever and they seemed to really be having a lot of fun with it. Joe bantered with the crowd quite a bit and he was in excellent form. To add one more quibble, of all of DL's albums only two went completely unrepresented: OTTN and Slang. Seeing as Slang is in my top three favorite DL albums I was really disappointed. ave they disowned the thing or something?

To sum up: Slow start; got stronger as the night progressed. I'll definately be back for more the next time they come to town!.

I sat in the nose bleed section but had a great view of the entire stage and everyone in the band. I was worried at first because half the place was empty but I remembered that the Phillies and the Sixers were playing so traffic was a mess I am sure. I went for a beer and saw the line wrapped around the building I felt much better.

First lets start with Ricky Warwick. I give the guy a big hand. It takes a lot a guts to come out by himself and start jammin on his acoustic. Vivian Campbell came out for one song to do back up vocals and electric guitar. I would have added a bigger band or another act to the opener.

DL came out rockin' to the HND album and I think the crowd reacted fine to the songs. Then they went on to play X songs and Hysteria songs. It amazes me how people still go crazy for the Hysteria songs. 'Rocket' just whipped everyone into a frenzy. Rick Allen just kicked ass all night on the drums. I was in awe just listening to him. Joe's voice was right on with a little help with the high notes for the others. Phil - well Phil is just a shredder. What an axe man he is. It was nice to see Vivian with more emotion in his stage presence. I was getting worried about him but it was a nice trade off with Viv and Phil sharing solo's. All in all the band rocked! The crowd rocked! It was a rockin' time in Philly! Now I can't wait for NY on Saturday!!!.

The set list is dead on so I won't bother posting it again. Being a professional musician myself I tend to pay attention to aspects of the show that most people don't so that is the perspective I'll be writing from. First off all, I thoroughly enjoyed the show but then again I don't think I've seen a DL show I didn't like. Crowd response was a bit slow at first but the Leps rose to the occasion. What amazed me is that it looked like after all these years they really still enjoy what they do and you can't fake that.

Phil and Viv are really starting to work well together and they had more interaction with each other than I've seen in the past which is great because they both really "tore up the fretboard" this night...the solos were really something to see! Most of the songs were note for note dead on and the sound was amazing. They continue to be a source of musical inspiration to me...they are just such amazing musicians. The Hysteria album is one of the reason I picked up a guitar all those years ago and their music has helped me get to where I am today in my career. The stuff from "X" is starting to grow on me but it doesn't surprise me that the Hysteria stuff still goes over the best. When my band plays "PSSOM" the crowds go insane. On a side note...unlike the "Dixie Chicks", Joe dedicated a song (Long Long Way to Go) to all the American and British troops. The crowd went crazy and it meant a lot to me as our drummer just found out that day his brother had been killed in Iraq.

In closing, it was a great show and I can't wait to see them again! Maybe I'll get to meet them again as well like I did in Allentown, PA (Got my guitar signed by the whole band and a picture w/ Phil). They are a great bunch of guys to hang out with as well! Rock on!.

Well, what can I say, Def Leppard kicks a** again!!!! Sounding and looking, better than ever. It is a pleasure to listen & watch them on stage. They have so much fun doing what they love to do. The setlist is pretty much the same as the rest of the tour has been with the disappointing exception of them not playing, You're So Beautiful (which I was really looking forward to). I am seeing them next week in Maryland I hope they add that back into the set. Also, I must admit, I love Long Long Way To Go, BUT it needs to be done acoustic in concert, it sounded awful, and it kills me to say that. The audience really wasn't getting into the concert much, until the end. I could see Joe was not impressed with the reception of the crowd. He really had to work hard to get everybody going. Of course it picked up once they got into Rocket, Animal and PSSOM. Well, I am satisfied for a week until my next show and there will be a next show.

This has been the 5th DL concert I have been to, and I get jacked up every time I see them. Overall, the concert rocked as usual, but there were some down moments. The crowd was relatively lame for the first five songs until they played songs that they usually hear on the radio. I question some of the setlist the band chooses, but who am I to complain. My personal favs were Armageddon it, Pssom, Let it Go, and Rocket. LLWTG was tough to hear, acoustic would be better, right before tsb, or after it. The 2 hours went by so fast, and I plan to see them a 6th time.

This show was completely awesome. Malvin came out and introduced Ricky, and he did about 5 or 6 songs. Viv came out and sang and played "Three Sides to Every Story" (I think that was the name) with him.

They started to play (We will Rock You, etc) so you knew the Lepps would hit the stage soon. So you hear the drums going, the crowd goes wild and stands up on their feet. Then the curtain falls down and you see them all come out... I'm so close to the stage I can see Sav and Viv come up from the side and walk on. They sat there for a minute just watching the crowd. Then they went into 'Let It Go'. It was awesome me and the 3 girls sitting next to me were all singing. Something was wrong with Joe's mike because the first 4 songs you couldn't hear that well. Then they go into 'Another Hit And Run' which I loved. Joe came over to our side and told us to scream so we did...lol. After this Joe said "Philadelphia how you doing tonight..." Then you hear the opening chords to 'High N Dry' I was so excited... they sounded great during this song I couldn't believe it! I was jumping up and down pumping my fist in the air for this one

Next I think they went into 'Switch 625' Joe went off stage to get a different mike because, like I said something must have been wrong with the other one. Sav also stood up by the drums and did a little bass solo. Next I think they went into 'Heartbreak' the crowd went insane and the lighters flared. The lights were purple it gave a really cool feeling to the song. Then Joe said "That was some from the High N Dry album we're gonna give you some Pyromania now!" And 'Foolin' start up... once again the lighters went up and we were all signing along. After this they went into 'Make Love Like A Man' which I know they've been putting Rock Rock in place for this song so I was excited when this came on I sang every word, and the band ran around the stage it was awesome! Then they did Hysteria'

Joe said "We're gonna keep it down for a few minutes" and he was talking and someone threw an American flag up on stage past him... he went and picked it up and said "Interesting" and the crowd of course went insane when he held it up. Joe put it in his mike stand and said "courtesy of Steven Tyler". And he said "This is dedicated to the American and British troops serving our country so please sit down... This is a song called 'Long Long Way To Go.' Then they all went to get acoustic guitars. Joe said "We're gonna keep it slow and we're gonna have a little fun now, when we get to the chorus I want you to sing along with us and blow the f***ing roof of this place." Then he came around and we screamed... and he said "Is that all you can do" and we screamed louder. Then he said "We aren't in Erie are we?? Because you all sound like Erie did last night" and the crowd booed the comment, and Joe said "Well you can either be better or f***ing worse then them, COME ON PHILLY!!!!" We screamed so loud and Joe said "OK you guys are a lot better" Then he said "this is a song that was on Retro Active, and was featured on the "Last Action Hero" soundtrack. This is 'Two Steps Behind.'

Then you heard 'Women', 'Animal', 'Rocket', 'Now', 'Four Letter Word', 'Photograph' Joe sounded great singing this song! Then they played 'Armageddon It' and we all sang along and once again pumped our fists in the air. Then of course came 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' this was so a great live song I don't care who you are... you were standing! After that song was over Viv, changed his guitar, and Sav changed his bass to the Union Jack one. Then Joe said "OK everyone knows drummers are usually the quite ones in bands, Ringo from the Beatles, someone else... and Rick. But unfortunately Rick doesn't have the advantage of a big f***ing mouth and a microphone in front of him." "But Rick is going to introduce this next song..." and then you hear the famous... Gounter Gleiblin Gloutin Globin. It was 'Rock Of Ages' baby! The crowd all stood up and sang the chorus with the band! The Joe said "Thank you all goodnight!!!!!!" Sav gave his pick to a lucky girl in the audience, and Phil did the same on his side.

Then they came back out and Joe said something like "Do you guys ever get tired" and of course we don't...lol. Then they played 'Love Bites', the lighters were once again flared, and we all sang with the band. Then the next song Joe said "I got a question for you Philly.... Do you wanna get rocked!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG YES!!!!!!!! It was Lets Get Rocked, they let the crowd sing the chorus without the band singing back up and it was awesome I got chills!!!!!! When they were all done the bowed and Sav threw about 20 picks into the audience... I was like come up here and give one to me...lol there was one song in there that I didn't know because I couldn't hear it... The mike was fading in and out again and I asked the girls next to me and they didn't know either. But this was an awesome show I loved it... none of the band members could stay still the entire night!!!!!!! Very VERY energetic!!!!!!!!!!! And I'm not imagining or anything but I swear Joe, and Sav saw me because I forget what song it was during but Joe came to our side and I was jumping up and down and pumping my fist in the air with the metal sign in my hands and Joe waved and did the same thing. Then Sav came over and I was once again jumping up and down and pumping my fist in the air... he pointed to my section what it looked like to be very close to me, and he smiled waved. and pumped his fist in the air. It was the one of the best shows I've seen I had a blast!!!.
