Mason, OH - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By BengalBabe

The Cincinnati show rocked! it was great! Through the first couple songs the crowd wasn't as rowdy as usual but man we warmed up! When Pour Some Sugar On Me, Rock of Ages and Let's Get Rocked were played....WOW! the place went nuts!

Everyone one in the band looked great and sounded great! Joe hit the notes and Rick never missed a beat! It was a great show and I hope they come back...its totally worth seeing again!!!.

We arrived (me and a friend Cathy) at King's Island on Thursday. We were given free media passes into the park and took them up on it. Didn't stay too long as neither of us are roller coaster enthusiasts. But it was nice of them to give us the rundown on the park (stats, records, and the like) and we did get some great photos of the park for them.

The next day we showed up at the park at 3 pm so we could have plenty of time to meet some other fans for a chat session. We stopped at the will call window and picked up our photo passes and immediately pinned them on our shirts. On our way to meet the other girls, we stop at a booth and pay an outrageous amount for DEF LEPPARD to be cut out of wood on a scroll saw. Silly, I know. Call it an impulse purchase LOL

It's funny how people look at you when you have a photo pass. But, we trucked up front when Ricky Warwick came out and did our thing. We had the run of the place, so to speak. We didn't just have to stay in one spot (photo pit)-we could move around a bit. Although, when the boys came out, my butt was planted in a 10 ft section at the front center of the stage.

The band was on some sort of happy juice for the entire show. All of them were so into it. Grins, winks, waves, and the like. Spectacular, it was!! The sound was great and the venue seemed packed. NO major glitches in equipment and the weather was beautiful.

I know, some of you want to know the antics of the guys as well as wardrobe, so here goes: Viv had on a denim sleeveless shirt that he left unbuttoned. He was throwing his picks up and catching them. He missed one and frowned but tried again and caught it. He had his guitar every which way but loose. Several times he was bent over and the guitar was practically touching the stage. Late in the show, he took the shirt off.

Phil had on jeans and a black shirt, which as you can guess, came off rather quickly. He showed off quite a bit too. Showed us his move where he lays down on the stage and plays for a bit and then stands back up without missing a beat. He's quite good at that. He and Joe were like two kids together. I love it when Joe goes over to him and plays with his whammy bar. Hmmm, that sounds a bit off doesn't it? LOL

Rick was cute as ever, and full of smiles. When it came time for Joe to introduce him, he said "Rick is back there smoking and drinking tea, tsk, tsk, tsk." OF course he said, "Rick doesn't get to talk a lot because he doesn't have one of these (holds up mike) or a big ******* mouth like I do." As usual the crowd went nuts for him. Rick's grin was a mile wide and he stood up and waved.

Sav was on fire this night. I've never seen him do the bang-lift so many times in one show. And several times he did the thing where he puts a hand on either side of his head and holds his hair, letting his bass just dangle in front of his body. Several times, he did different moves. I can't remember which song, but once he had a heavy bass line going along with the drums and he kept doing his bit and then pointing up at Rick. Very cute I must say.

And now for the Rock God himself. Joe, wearing those damn leather pants and 'hand' muscle shirt was absolutely breathtaking this night. I have never seen him look so good and happy, nor have I ever seen his dimple so many times. He looked 8-10 yrs younger than he has in recent months. I could see the gleam in those beautiful eyes and he practically bounded back and forth across the stage. Twirling the mike stand like it was a baton. Of course, the signature moves during Sugar, Let's Get Rocked, and Make Love Like a Man.The audience, particularly the women love it and he knows it. He played right into their hands. He certainly knows how to get a crowd going and keep them there. He blew dozens of kisses to the audience and thanked us repeatedly, promising that as long as the fans wanted to see them, they'd keep coming back.

This was the first show I've seen where each and every one of the band members was on cloud 9. It was amazing. I was able to take about 80 pictures during the first three songs and my friend Cathy got in about 60. I'll share as soon as I get them ready.I feel a case of PCD (post-concert depression) coming on lol.

We got to the venue around 7:00 after riding the big rides all day. Well, some of us rode the big rides, others worked on their tans. Rory was setting up for Ricky's set. Ricky sounded awesome, as usual, so he must know what he's doing.

Ricky wore different clothes - he he he He had on a black cowboy shirt with the sleeves cut off and black pants. I embarrassed my daughter when I stood up for Ricky. There were only maybe 6 of us standing. He kept looking over and smiling, like he does. She yanked me down after that and wouldn't let me get up again. I'm surprised I don't have bruises she was grabbing my arm so hard. Ricky seemed to be pretty well received. Alot of people were being rude and talking, but alot of people were singing along too.

We got the 'Action' set this time. The song seemed lost on that crowd unfortunately. Our little group was happy for the change. We loved it! Haven't heard that one live in years. The crowd livened up after 'Make Love Like AMan' though.

This was my daughter's first Rock concert and she had a blast! All the band smiled and posed for her. Phil started it all when he talked to her and blew her a kiss. After that, she ripped the camera off my neck, pushed me out of my primo spot, and took the pics. What mothers will do for their children.

The band looked like they were having the time of their lives. That's one of the things you can always count on at a Def Leppard show. They make you feel like it's a big party and they are so happy that you're there. Don't know how they do it, but I sure do appreciate it.

I think the sound was bad, but then that was the first outdoor venue that I've been to this tour. Maybe I've been spoiled? Could've been where we were sitting too. Some friends sat a little farther back and they said it sounded fine. Sav's bass seemed all distorted and I could barely hear Phil's guitar. It was especially noticeable during the guitar duel in 'Rocket'. Viv's part was all loud and then Phil's could barely be heard. That's one of my fave parts too. Couldn't hear Joe very well at the beginning either. Still had a blast!

Obsessed SLANG fan that I am......I have to say how happy I am that they did 'Slang'. It went over well too. The band had to stop for a minute afterwards for everyone to quiet down. It was great!

The crowd really seemed into the show. Alot of people knew the new songs as well as the VAULT set. I was pleasantly surprised. Also, I talked with some friends afterwards who said they liked the new songs so well that they were going to go out and buy X. I've only been talking about it for a year now. It was a great show and a great time! Try to catch them if they come anywhere near you. You won't regret it.

This was my third concert this tour. Before this tour I had never been to a DL concert. I have been a long time fan for 20 years. Each time I see them, they get better and better. They started out with 'Let It Go.' Of course, I was instantly into the show. It took the majority of the crowd (other than us diehards) till the 3rd song to get into it. I have no idea what they were waiting on.

The guys looked amazing up there on stage. You could tell they were definitely having a good time. They were all smiles and running all over the stage. Joe was really working the crowd.

There aren't any words to describe how I felt. I'm speechless, not that I could say anything anyway. It's been 3 days and my voice is still not back to normal. All I can say is they're the greatest band in the world!!!

I am so depressed I won't be going to anymore shows. The next tour can't come soon enough for me!.
