Billings, MT - Media Reviews

Def Leppard @ MetraPark Arena By Billings Gazette

It was indeed the rock concert of the summer.

Def Leppard and opening act Tesla's three-hour musical extravaganza Tuesday at MetraPark produced the heat.

The audience of nearly 11,000 turned it into steam.

There is little doubt that MetraPark was the hottest place in Billings Tuesday night.

Not only was the temperature upstairs at MetraPark's sweltering, but the full-house audience was fired up.

The smell of sweat was everywhere and so were teenagers with sweat-soaked shirts or no shirts.During Def Leppard's 10-minute combination drum solo, audience participation number, the audience screamed 'I want rock 'n' roll' with enough force to match the band's amplified sound.

The audience screamed and shouted, wiggled and danced down on the floor for the British band that made its first appearance Tuesday.

Leppard singer Joe Elliott promised that the performance won't be the band's last in Billings.
