Omaha, NE - Media Reviews

Def Leppard Omaha Civic Auditorium By Omaha World-Herald

The boys from Sheffield, England put on a high-energy show at the Civic Auditorium, earning an enthusiastic response from 9,161 fans.

Those fans appreciated the chance to hear an hour and 45 minutes of the group's hard rock tunes.

Most of which were loud enough to make a leopard, or any other creature, deaf.

The musicians seemed to have a great deal of pent=up energy, which is understandable, since they haven't toured in four years.

The group emphasized its older material during the show.

Playing such tunes as 'Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)' and 'Rock Of Ages'.

The few selections from 'Hysteria' included 'Women', 'Animal' and 'Pour Some Sugar On Me'.

The concert, presented in the round, was enhanced by an unusually strong stage show.

At the beginning of the evening, four large curtains bearing the 'Hysteria' cover art surrounded the stage.

The voice of Clint Eastwood as Dirt Harry filled the arena.

After Harry finished asking a punk if he felt lucky, the curtains rose to reveal a smoke-filled stage and Def Leppard.

The evening also featured a sophisticated laser show and other lighting and sound effects.

Part of the light show flashed upon two circular screens that dropped from above.
