  • Location / Mannheim, West Germany
  • Venue / Maimarktgelände Mannheim
  • Event / Monsters Of Rock

The first show by the band in this city since October 1983 on the Pyromania tour.

The first time at this venue.

The venue is located 4 miles to the South East of the city centre.

The name translates to May market Area in English.

It has hosted concerts since at least 1985.

A photo of the gig was included on the Hysteria inner sleeve showing the torrential downpour that happened during Leppard's set.

Backstage guests included Iron Maiden who had recently finished recording their "Somewhere in Time" album at Wisseloord Studios.

Singer Bruce Dickinson reportedly came out and held an umbrella over Joe's head during 'Love And Affection'.

Joe thanked him at the end of the song with - "Special thanks to Bruce Dickinson on umbrella!".

'Run Riot' dropped and replaced by 'Let It Go' in the setlist.
