Syracuse, NY - Media Reviews

Def Leppard @ Syracuse War Memorial By Syracuse Sentinel Journal

Elliott, wearing a British flag muscle shirt and black leather pants, led the group on stage and opened with 'Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)' which is the namesake of the U.S. tour and the cover song on their latest release 'Pyromania'.

The mostly high school-aged audience displayed a good knowledge of the band by singing along with the hits 'Saturday Night' and 'Hit And Run', both from an earlier release as well as other songs during the performance.

Those songs were followed by 'Mirror, Mirror (Look Into My Eyes)' from their second LP 'High 'n' Dry' and 'Foolin'' from their latest release.

The highlight of the evening was 'Photograph', a hot single on 'Pyromania'.

Bic lighters flared, and the whole audience clapped and sang along.

According to Elliott, a song about Marilyn Monroe, has been the hottest video on MTV for the past six weeks.

It is also very popular throughout the country on radio.

The whole band displayed a lot of energy throughout the performance.

Clark showed his versatility on guitar handling both the soft rock and heavy metal sounds.

Collen ran around, contorted his body, and occasionally slid on his knees using every bit of the stage to display his expertise on the guitar.

He is a definite crowd pleaser.

Overall, Def Leppard is a very talented band and they should be around for a long time.

Elliott is a bona fide vocalist and the sounds you hear in concert are the same ones you will get from their albums.

There are no mechanical aids to help the vocals or the sounds, other than amplification.
