Def Leppard @ Rushmore Plaza Civic Center By Rapid City Journal
These days a rock concert isn't so much an event as an experience.
And Tuesday night's concert at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center featuring Uriah Heep and Def Leppard is testimony to that.
To put it bluntly, spending two to three hours listening to a heavy metal rock 'n' roll band in a cavern like the Civic Center arena isn't worth the effort.
From a musical point of view...so why go?.
To see a show, and Tuesday night about 8,000 people saw a great show.
As for Def Leppard there isn't really much to say.
'Pyromania', Def Leppard's third album, is one of the hottest selling albums in the country right now.
And judging from the crowd reaction everyone at the Civic Center must have bought one.
Every song brought a roar from the crowd as lead singer Joe Elliott worked the band through its set.
Def Leppard could have played all night, and no one in the audience would have minded one bit.
It was perhaps not as flashy a show as some, but it didn't have to be.
