Def Leppard @ Lloyd Noble Center By Daily Oklahoman
It was like a rock 'n' roll Olympics, with musicians from three nations giving their personal best on the Lolyd Noble Center stage Monday night.
And if medals really had been awarded, Switzerland should have won the gold, hands down.
Def Leppard, the current high-decibel champs of Great Britain, did queen and country proud with a well-executed set of aural gymnastics.
Def Leppard's closing performance also was riddled with cliches, especially in the predictable string-bending histrionics of Steve Clark and Phil Collen and Joe Elliott's shrieking vocals - which loosely resemble AC/DC's Brian Johnson.
But this British five-some churn through the course with a verse and style that almost makes up for their lack of originality, especially during hard-charging, muscle-straining rockers like 'Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)' and 'High 'N' Dry (Saturday Night)'.
While they bowed to the superior efforts of Krokus this particular evening, they at least earned some bronze for the good old UK.
