Heavy Metal Match-Up At The Forum Ends In Loud Tie By Montreal Gazzette

Def Leppard, a band from England which claims that its music is 'like the weather - it's always around', did its best to keep the heavy ball rolling.

Especially lead singer Joe Elliott who exhorted the crowd to be loud or else he would squeal on us in Toronto the next night.

The problem with Leppard is that it's a mirror-image of Krokus in its configuration; two guitarists, bass, drums and a no0intrument vocalist.

Both vocalists use the stage in the same way; both scream at the crowd and like to have sing-alongs.

Krokus has a harder sound; Leppard, who;s latest LP Pyromania has passed two million in sales, is more refined in its approach, with new guitarist Phil Collen doing a passable imitation of a serious instrumentalist.

So Krokus had an edge on crowd chanting but Leppard provided them with more entertainment.

Call it a toss-up, as it should be when mirror images square against one another.
