Tucson, AZ, USA - Media Reviews

Judas Priest/Def Leppard @ Community Centre By Arizona Daily Star

There was a lot of energy in Judas Priest's performance, but not much emotion.

Halford seemed as though he'd rather be offstage than on - he was trotting into the wings frequently to let Downing and Tipton carry the show.

That was in contrast to Def Leppard, who performed earlier.

This young bunch performed with enthusiasm, though they haven't yet matured to the point of any real creativity.

But the same can be said of bands that have been around for many more years.

Singer Joe Elliott seems to have spent his formative years at Phil Mogg's knee.

He showed much more spark than Mogg did during UFOs recent concert here.

The best of Def Leppard's stop-out performance were during anthemic 'Rock Brigade' and 'Rocks Off', both lively, forceful numbers free of heavy-metal excess.
