The venue is located in Hanley which is a town in the city of Stoke-On-Trent.

It was opened in 1888 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Jubilee and as an extension to the Town Hall.

It was renovated and extended in 1999.

The opener for this show was Expozer, a local band based in Stoke-On-Trent and part of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal.

They featured Steve Byatt (lead vocals), Tim Blackwood (guitars), Kev Holmes (guitars), Gary Marshall (bass) and Tim Bedson (drums).

They had formed in 1979 and were active until 1982 and released at least two singles - 'Exposed At Last' (1980-with 2 tracks) and a re-re-release of the same single with two extra tracks.
