Def Leppard, with minimal success.

And the Scorpions, with even less, opened the concert.

The English Def Leppard melodized the heavy metal motif on its first album this year.

Although the band is a far cry from the sweet strains of a pop group such as Boston.

With offerings of 'Wasted' and, more notably, 'Rock Brigade' the group hinted that it could offer its audience more than the rudimentary thump of other hard rock bands.
