Boston, MA - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Judy Cordiner

I was present at the performance of Def Leppard on August 2nd, 1980 in Boston MA USA and I still have the ticket stub to prove it. The stub of course does not list Def Leppard since they were the opening act for a triple bill of Judas Priest, Scorpions and Def Leppard.

I was 20 years old at the time and although Judas Priest and Scorpions are amazing bands I was there to see Def Leppard. I had come in possession of a cassette tape of the On Through The Night album and immediately played it to death recognizing this band was something special and was not going to miss this show.

I can remember standing at my seat thinking how awesome these guys were and to think they were the same age as me, the drummer Rick Allen a mere 17 years old. The Orpheum Theater in Boston is one of the oldest theaters in Boston built in 1852. It is very ornate and has a capacity of only 2700 people.

We sat in Orchestra Right making us pretty close to the stage. I can remember so hoping they would play my two favorite song off the album; Rock Brigade and Wasted and of course they did not disappoint. Sorry I can't remember the rest of the set list but I am positive of those two songs and unfortunately it was impossible in that day to get a camera inside so no pictures either.

I can tell you that that performance ensured my passion for this band and I have been a lifelong admirer ever since attending many, many more shows to every USA tour from that day on.

I finally had the chance to meet them during the Viva Hysteria Residency in Las Vegas on April 3rd, 2013 where the "Greatest Def Leppard Cover Band Ever" Ded Flatbird (haha) performed those two favorite songs again. These guys are truly amazing, warm, friendly and in it for the music. They define a true Rock n' Roll band and it was my honor to meet them. I hope to enjoy their music for a long time to come.
