- Location / Manchester, England
- Venue / Students' Union Main Hall @ The University Of Manchester
The first show by the band in this city.
The first time at this venue.
The band had played a show in Harwood (Greater Manchester) in March but not in the main city centre.
This venue is located on Oxford Road and is part of the Manchester University facilities in the city centre.
It was opened in 1957.
It has hosted concerts since at least 1963.
The building is also known as the Steve Biko building to honour the South African anti-apartheid campaigner.
A show rescheduled from the 23rd June.
In October 1990 the Manchester Academy venue was opened next to this building which contains a large venue of 2,600 capacity and three smaller halls.
The band were reportedly paid 75 pounds for this show.
The setlist included three songs not played at the June 5th Crookes show - 'Hello America', 'Rock Brigade' and 'Satellite'.
It's possible these were written or finished off during June 1979.
The audience recording was widely believed to be the first recording of a Lep show until late 2005 when a recording of the first gig at Westfield School surfaced (privately owned and not circulated).
Technically this is still the first Lep show available as the other has not been shared among other fans by its owner.
The first confirmed show where the band performed all original material although they may have done at some shows prior to this one.
